Default Intermittent Shifting Issues

I am having and intermittent issue with my JK and I was wondering if anyone has seen the same or has any advice.

I have a 2010 JKU with manual transmission and approximately 22,000 miles.

Every once in a while this problem will start and once the issue starts it will usually continue until the next day. The problem is, when shifting into 3-4-5 or 6th gear, there is a shimmy in both the shifter and the clutch pedal immediately after the clutch pedal is fully released. The best way I can describe it is that it feels like the clutch is slipping. However, this only happens in the last four gears and only happens when up shifting, not down shifting.

I am confused?

I feel like if I take it to the dealer, it is not going to act up for them and they will tell me there is nothing they can do.

It did this all day yesterday and is not doing t today.

What rpm is the engine at when you complete the shift, but before you continue to accelerate?

I can't say for sure because I didn't pay attention. I would guess around 2500 as that is my typical shift point. I spent a little time up shifting and down shifting to see if it would happen when downshifting. I assume all shifts were performed between 2000 and 3000 RPM.

I'm thinking the rpm is allowed to drop too far during your shift. When you continue to accelerate in the next gear, low rpm may cause the engine to jump around a little bit.

Notice what it drops to during the shift, then try it shifting at a little higher rpm, or completing the shift a little quicker.

See if that makes a difference.

A little background I should have included: I have owned 9 vehicles, 7 of which were manual and have been driving manual for 12 years now. I have owned my current Jeep for a year and a half now so I really don't feel that this is user error. However, my wife has borrowed my jeep a few times and she does not have much experience with a manual transmission.

It feels like the clutch but I am questioning that because it only happens in the upper 4 gears and only when up shifting. Could it have something to do with syncros? I am not sure exactly how they work but it is strange to me that this issue comes and goes.

I posted while you were posting, but, still try what I suggested in post #4. If it doesn't improve, then, yes, there is something else going on.

The issue was not happening today but I noted exactly how I shift. I typically shift at 2500 RPM and by the time I am in gear and the clutch is all the way out, it drops to around 1800 RPM.

Once this issue starts, it will not go away for about a day so I dont think it is the shift points that are the problem.

I guess I will have to wait until the issue comes up again and drive straight to the dealer.

I also shift around 2500RPM's and I don't get anything like you said, in fact it's so smooth it feels like an auto tranny shifting.

I would get it check out
