Default Issues after 3000 miles

I'm about to take my X in for the following issues, but I figured I would check the forum first, since they probably won't have much of an answer for me.

1. My starter gets stuck occasionally, it's only happened about 5 times in almost 2 months of driving, but.......it does happen.

2. The driver's door sounds like it's flexing or something, like I hear a tapping noise in the door, it's shut all the way, it only happens about 50% of the time, but it is annoying.

Other than that, I have loved it, I know these are knick picky, but hey I spent 26k on a vehicle, so I can complain a little.

Let me know if you have any of the same problems or solutions.

I don't know about your starter but your door is definitely possessed!

Does it happen mostly when it's colder out?

This morning when I started our new JK (week-old owners tomorrow) the starter stayed on past the point where I let go of the key, about 1/2 second or so. I was wondering if it was a feature-- the starter stays on until the engine is started (if that makes sense).

It's the first time this has happened with my Jeep, but it's also the first time I was starting it in 15-20 degree weather.

Feature, common now. You turning the key just tells the computer to start the engine. Feel free to let go after bumping it and start getting your seat belt on.

I wouldn't consider what mine has been doing a "feature"

I start it and the starter gets stuck in the start position and won't stop even when the engine starts. A couple others on the forum have the same issue.

I think what I experienced this morning is different than what you describe, then.

Lucky Bastard.

I had the dealer try to fix it, doesn't do it often.

How cold is it where you live. I have thought about installing an engine coolant preheater on mine. Not only do you have instant heat, but you have faster startups and you reach operating temp quicker.

I thought my door was clunking also, because the sound was in my left ear when going around a right hand turn & maybe a few little bumps in the road.
I reached up while driving yesterday & hit my seat belt attachment above your head on the left and it made same sound I've been hearing.(maybe going to put some foam inside the attachment) It bounces up & down and a clunking sound appears. Try it...just maybe.....
I turn my key to start it & immediately release it, & it starts right up....I don't hold it in the start position anymore.

Yeah I will check on the seat belt, it definitely sounds like it's in the door. Far as the starting issue, I might just not be releasing my hand quick enough, but it does it in hot and cold weather, and well I live in Charleston, SC, so there never really is any cold weather.

I am also getting a tapping noise from my door like it is flexing. I am hearing it from the top right near the windshield. I think it could be the plastic cover that is removable for folding the windshield down, but havent had a chance to play around with it to figure out for sure.
