Default Jeep clicks 1 and 2nd time then starts

Question, when i turn the key on the Jeep it just clicks the first and second time. However on tje rd it starts. I just replaced a month ago a brand new battery. Any help is greatly appreciated. I thought maybe the starter or alternator

Check battery cables (including ground connections) first. Maybe have someone tap on starter when it fails to crank while you're holding key to start. If it kicks on, pull starter and have checked at auto parts store. Also check for something draining battery when Jeep is parked. Check voltage when you park (engine off), then next morning. Shouldn't change more than a tenth of a volt or two. Probably not alternator, since it is keeping battery charged enough to start engine. In TIPM is a starter relay. Might tap on it while trying to start. Or listen with stethoscope to see if it clicks. If not, could be wiring to ignition switch, or switch itself. This diagram may prove useful ...

Manual or automatic?

If it's an auto, google neutral safety switch and get ready to read.

Good point. Being the die-hard manual shifter I am, I don't usually think of those auto unique problems. OP might try jiggling shift lever to see if he can get it to start.

It is a automatic. However when i start up it is kinda of sluggish for a few seconds and then is fine. I am starting to think it is the fuel pump now because of the situation that just happened

Mine does it from time to time and I have to run it down and back stop to stop, then it will be fine. Unfortunately, the switch is buried above the valve body and not easily accessible. Some suggestions include adding an additional ground from the transmission body to the negative terminal on the battery.

OK, I'm sure the fuel pump is making the starter click as you've described. Good luck!

Run a 4gauge ground wire from the Negative terminal on the battery to the alternator bracket. This usually takes care of the starter click issue and the neutral safety switch issue.
Had the same issue which cleared up after adding the new ground wire.
