I recently purchased the Jeep factory tow bar. This has probally been the worst engineered part I have ever seen. At first glance it looks and feels good. Once installed all the flaws show! The frame mounts are 3/8 steel and bend side to side when turning. The mount is held on by 5/8 pins, however the pins are to short. WHen I turn the frame mounts bend spreading the mounts away from the pins and the cotter pins support the load of these bending parts. Needles to say I lost a pin when the cotter pin sheared. Thank goodness I was travelling low speed and I felt it break. The tow bar was damaged at the frame mount. I told Jeep about this P.O.S. part and they said since I installed it TOOOO BAD! I explained to them the part is non adjustable and can only be installed one way. They agreed the one I had looked like a poor design. They ordered another thinking maybe I got a bum part. NOPE this new part is identical to the first one! I recommend looking elswehere unless you feel like watching your Jeep pass you after you stop for the stop sign, upside down!

 

wow, you can buy one at uhaul for under $100.00 that tows 5k lbs thats better than that!!!
