Stock JK TechBulletin board forum regarding issues with OE (original equipment) components of the Jeep JK Wrangler (Rubicon, Sahara, Unlimited and X) such as factory suspension parts, engine, transmission, body parts, interior fixtures and the on-board computer.
So I won a Jeep Wrangler the other day in an auction, and I can’t tell if the hood needs a realignment or if the frame is bent. Just wanted to get y’all’s opinion on it. Thanks!
Shoty workmanship to trying to hide that the jeep was wrecked. Can't see or say if the frame is bent, but removing the hood and inspecting that one hinge could offer more insight to what the issue is. I suspect that the error hinge needs to be "back mounted" onto the cowl area instead of in front of the cowl. See if this can be done. Once the rear of the hood has been lined up with the cowl, you'll get a better picture of what and how far off the front end is..
Also, you posted this in the incorrect section as your jeep is not a JK..

Was this at an insurance total loss vehicle? What was disclosed as to the extent of damage? This is a JL model 2018 or newer. Suggest getting under the JEEP and check out all the steering linkages, track bar, even check for a bent axle & frame damage. The right hood hinge is bent or not installed correctly to start answering your post question.
Interesting thread. Would think for it to be that far off due to an accident the front end would be a mess.....but wonder how it got like that to start with. Hard to hide/fix front-end crumple zone damage, specially with the bumper off, and I'd think that would show some signs of a frontal collision. I think I'd remove the hinges completely and see how the hood sits in place properly and/or how bad it is off.

^^^ This .....
I'm onboard with Resharp on this one - take off those hinges and see how that hood seats without the hinges.
Really odd that the hood is that far off without other tells ....
