Default Are JK Carpets Washing machine washable?

Hello All,

A wild animal (raccoon) recently decided to make its home in my jeep overnight when I left the top down. When I went to my jeep the next morning i saw it jump out and laughed a little thinking it was funny.

Well when I got inside my jeep I saw that it had shat or puked or something all over the carpet in the back :( Its disgusting and smells terrible. I tried to yank the carpet out of the worst areas and hosed it down a little but it setill needs alot of work.

I was thinking maybe I could rip my carpets out and take them up to the laundrymat. Put them in the biggest machine they have and machine wash them. I think thats the only way to really get the funk out.

So I guess its possible to get the carpets all the way out but does anyone know if they are machine washable? Or do you think washing them in a machine would completely screw them up?

Please help im desperate!

Thanks!

I wouldn't stick the carpets in the washing machine. You'll screw them both up!

Ill be using the Laundrymats machine. they have those big ass commercial machines up there, I seriously doubt that the machine will mess up. What im worried about is the carpets, do you really think they will get messed up in the wash? Of course i will just lay them out here in the hot florida sun and let them dry.

Take them to the car wash and power wash them...i have 2 kids i have had to do that multiple times...Lets just say juice started to fermintate(Turn to alcahol) with a little mold.My baby was only like 2 month old and already had mold...Use the soap and let it soak a few minutes..then wash it off..The backing will kinda mat-up a little but it works..then use a shop vac and suck as much water out as possible and let dry in the sun..Its all good man

Take them out and pressure wash them. It would be easiest and best all around. That said I would love to see the little Asian lady that runs the laundry mats (hey there is one in each) trying to argue with me in that frustrated way they get with us dumb rednecks.

Did I read this right? You power wash your kids at the car wash? You know diapers are a lot more convenient...

I haven't done the Jeep carpets but I have cleaned carpets from our house many, many times. First I vacuum the carpets to get rid of the excess loose dirt. Then I drag them out onto the deck and use the hose to spray them with water, soak them good. Then I use dry powder laundry soap and sprinkle the carpets liberally with soap. Then with a household broom I sweep the heck out of them, scrubbing in the wet soap every direction and especially concentrating on soiled spots. Finally, I again use the garden hose to spray away the soap until I feel it is gone. The water drips from the carpet through the floor of the deck and drys in the sun. Sometimes it takes a day or two until they are dry. They are then nice and flat and clean when I take them back into the house.
