My daughter just got a sewing machine for Christmas. Maybe I can get her to sew me a padded set of covers!

Sit up straight and drive. stop laying down and trying to look cool, it's a Jeep not a civic. Take this advice and the head rest comfort will not be an issue.

I just hope my JK never gets rear-ended; the thought of my head being slammed back into that thing is scary as hell. The top edge lines up perfectly with my head so it would be like getting hit in the head with the edge of a brick.

I think it is better to hit your head on the head rest rather than snap your neck when it wraps around the top of your seat. Just my opinion.

My headrests are no velvet cushions, but certainly aren't hard as rocks either. Think about it, If something is really soft, it wont absorb energy. Like that really cushiony carpet padding... imagine that over a cement floor.. now do a faceplant on said floor. You will certainly break your nose and bleed all over the place. Now imagine that thick horse hair padding, doesn't feel good on your toes, but will save your skull from cracking wide open if you were to fall. Rock hard is no good, but soothingly soft is not funtional either. Personally, my only headrest complaint is a mild one: why dont they tilt front to back, as i think they look funny slanted forward like that.

There are several things that a headrest needs to do, two of the most important are to prevent neck injuries such as whiplash and cervical fractures and the other would be to prevent intracranial damage such as a countrecoup head injury or concussion or bleed from hitting a very hard surface, so harder is not necessarilly better. There is a type of injury caused by very rapid decelleration that causes a generalized, diffuse cerebral injury. A slow controlled decelleration is best..not an immediate stop.

I dont think that the headrests are hard enough to cause these problems, just posted for your consideration.

If Wladziu isn't around maybe I can make a bike reference. Those styrofoam bike helments seam awful hard too. I guess they are made to crack open before your skull does. Maybe DC realizes how hard headed Jeepers really are.

I also think the angle of the headrest is a little funky. Seams like they should be rotated back a little. I am not sure what my head and neck veribrae do in a collision though, maybe the crash dummy told them to do it.

This is really my only major beef with them. I think I'm just going to "adjust" mine back a bit in the shop.
