Default Jk rattle

I've got an 08 unlimited auto with 40000 miles. Recently I been hearing a noise when accelerating. It sounds like it's coming from near the engine/tranny area. It only doesnt do it at idle, just acceleration. I've check the heat shields, skid plates, all the normal stuff like that. So now, could it be the torque converter, main bearings? It sounds alot like marbles in a can moving around. Unfortunately it's out of warranty but I'm afraid I'm gonna have to let the dealer take a listen. Any ideas?

Check the 2 metal hose insulators covering the EGR tubes especialy the one that goes down behind the firewall they are not clamped and they rattle on the pipes. Had this problem hose clamped them noise all gone. It makes the exact noise you are describing!

Mine has the same thing happening at 42k miles now. Taking it to the dealership for them to look at it. Subscribed to see what the cause is.

Mine did the same thing and it was a broken heat shield tack weld on the exhaust crossover pipe running under the trans and engine. I could not find it visually until I started prying each weld lightly with a screwdriver. Once I found the cracked weld, just bent it up some so it wouldn't vibrate against the exhaust pipe.

Engine Knock? You said it was under acceleration. maybe try changing gas stations or octane to test?? Are you running a superchips type tuner?

I checked the grommet but i cannot tell if it's out or not.. it seems the base is about an inch or so out, but i see no grease. I'm assuming that's where it's supposed to be.

I checked my heat shields, and came across this:

Is there a bolt missing? And if so could this be my problem with the rattle?

Go buy 4 metal hose clamps and clamp the crossover pipe heat shield down, even if the welds are not broken the ends have 2 small metal band clamps that after repeated heat and cold will weaken and they will rattle.

Then buy 4 more small clamps and clamp the 2 metal flex tubes on the EGR pipes or cut them off, especially the one that runs down the back of the firewall at the transmission bell housing!

Your rattles will be gone!
