Gee, even if they went ahead & dropped the skid it should still have not taken more than 15 minutes or so; that's what it took me to zip-tie it back on without a hoist, on my back in the mud!

it has happened to me twice. after the first time i shift real easy and it still happened again. i think the heat eats them up. i keep a hand full of the POS clips in my glove box.
60 cent part. the look on a fellow jeepers face when you hand him the part he needs in the middle of no where. priceless

Anyways, I was going to take the dog to a lake today and on the way out I went to shift from 4L back in to 2H and believe it or not the shifter moves extremely easy! Never had this happen with any of my other Jeeps! I think (hope) it is just the linkage underneath the plastic console. Luckily insurance covers towing and I still have warranty! Took it to the local dealership and have to wait til Monday to get it looked at. Any ideas on what it may be, anyone else have this happen?? Hope I don't get bent over at the dealership!
I had this exact problem this weekend. On Sunday I was on my way home from a JK Meet and Greet. I decided to go the back way to my house around the pond. I put it down to 4H and then went to 4L on a level area and then I had nothing. I pushed the gas and it just rev'd but no go. The Jeep is still new to me, so I didn't even know anything about the linkage. Man was I freaking out though. I could put the Jeep in Park and still push it around. Later, I figured out I was stuck in neutral. After sweating in the heat for about half an hour trying everything I could think of...I think I just got lucky one time while moving the lever. It must have caught and put me back in 4H. I drove it back around to the house and did some research. Sure enough! Crawled under and I had an empty hoop at the end of a black cable. I'm still under warranty, but dreading dealing with any of the dealerships around here. Especially for something this simple. I'll probably just fix it myself and buy a few spares.
