Just bought Rubi take-offs; should I balance before install?
Hello all,
I just picked up a set of Rubicon wheels and tires (255/75/17 BFG ) to replace my stock 16" steelies. As far as I know, the TPMS sensors were included. The seller stated that they have around 5000 miles on them. Before I bolt them on, should I go the cautious route and take them to a tire shop for balancing?
Also, the seller said that they came off a 2011 Rubicon. Do I need to do anything special to make my Jeep "recognize" the TPMS sensors? I plan on ordering a procal today to take care of the speedo calibration.
Thanks for any help!

No need to balance. Your computer should recognize the new TPMS after ten minutes of driving. When I put my Rubi wheels on the computer recognized the TPMS with the key on run / engine off after the same 10 minutes without having to drive at all.

Cool, thanks again everyone.
I bolted on the new wheels / tires today, and man, what a difference. Not just in looks, but feel, too. I guess I got used to those tiny passenger tires. These things are so much louder!
I also get to order some new lug nuts, as about 30% of the stock ones had the cover-sleeves come off.
Anyway, after mounting them I drove about 50 miles and noticed that the TPMS light was on. I got home and checked the pressure and all of them were fine. I did read a thread here about different years maybe having different sensors. If my jeep is a 2010 and the wheels (and sensors) are from a 2011, could that be why the light is on? Will the Procal I just ordered "reset" the sensors, or do I only have the option of turning that feature off?
Also, here's a pic showing the size difference, just for fun:

I had my sensors swapped to my new wheels at Discount Tire. Can't you just have a local tire place swap the sensors from your 16s to the new Rubis? Seems to be easier than buying a programmer and running without them.
