Angry Keyfob Issue

A few days I plastidip'd my keyfob, having removed all the internal parts prior of course. Everything worked fine. Then I got a little carried away, but don't ask how, but the bottom part of the circuit board got a little chewed up, but not bad. The inside of the plastic where the key is embedded in the plastic is a little chewed up too. Still worked! Today I went to start my Jeep and it turns on, and 3 seconds later, turns off. The red light above the temp gauge stays on. I reset the IOD fuse and removed the negative battery terminal and reset everything, but the same issue. The remote works fine. All the buttons; lock, unlock, remote start and panic all work. But it's like the key isn't being recognized as a valid key. Even when I use the remote start, the moment I put the key in, it turns off. Any ideas? I thought at first it was the control module going bad but its a little coincidental that all this is happening around the same time I had it apart and messing with it.

the vary thin wire inside get broken when you are not careful . I am a locksmith and see it all the time when the battery is changed.

Which thin wire? The coiled copper wire?

It does look like the wires at the bottom of the winding are open. Also looks like a component is missing at the bottom left, you can see the two pads there. But this is the first time i've seen the inside of one.

Thumbs up

yep that's it . you can go by a (auto zone or pepboys ) place that will replace the battery and have them check your remote to see if it is putting out.

Yea youre right, the bottom left has a missing component. The cooper wire is a little roughed up, but mostly intact.
The remote works fine, all buttons. Just doesnt seem to be reading the key as a valid key.

As far as the copper wire - whats that for? And the missing part that looks broken off, no idea what goes there. I wonder if I sodder them together as a bypass if it would make the key work.

I wonder how the keyfob validates the key or if the key itself has a chip embedded.

Hi the copper wire is the antenna for the chip and the chip is in the remote and receiver is next to the ignition. the keyfob can work and the chip not and the other way to. Sorry to tell you but it sounds like new key time some locksmiths can cut and program the keys .
