Default Keyless Entry Distance

Is anyone having issues with theirs at short distances? What I mean by short is 1 car length away from the bumper. I have to be nearly in arm's length of the bumper for the doors to unlock.

For what it's worth, I had a 06 Dodge truck that I could lock/unlock from about 30 yards away at any time; the the key is identical (except for the logo).

So, am I the only one or is this common?

Thanks

i've noticed that the signal isn't the strongest as well. I have to be fairly close to the Jeep in order for the signal to be recognized. Its better for me though cause i'm always paranoid I left the jeep unlocked and knowing the signal is that weak lets me know I couldn't of unlocked the jeep from that far away

Yes, compared to our ram, the signal is really weak. But I dont see it as an issue really, it still beats manual locks

It happened to me when we first bought the Jeep.....had the key reprogrammed including the spare....worked for a week then it was back to the same old crap....6 ft way on the sides.....2ft max from the back and front.....BRUTAL!!!!

My Magnum and Ram truck I can reach easily 30 yards! Jeep lucky if I get it to lock or unlock at 10 feet! My next step is to replace the battery in the key fob....then next is to have the jeep go through a diagnosis at our Jeep dealer.

mine absolutely works great. I also had an 06 dodge ram which sucked the way your talking about the jeep, but my 08 sahara works awesome. My father in law has a sahara also and his works better than his F250.

mine works easily from 30 yard distance......could it be the battery?

i kinda doubt this because i have 18k on my jeep...sometimes getting in and out over 45 times a day (due to my job, i make a lot of stops and a lot of getting in and out)....but yeah, mine is very strong signal!

I guess it depends on the manufacturer (in terms of aftermarket units). I have a Viper keyless entry system that I can light up from 100+ feet away. My guess is that certain units have higher quality RF transmitters than others. It WOULD be nice if there was some sort of standard,...ya know?

Try replacing the batteries.

Are the batteries only replaceable by the dealer?
