I've always thought that engine braking was good for your engine because the vacuum lubes your cylinders by drawing oil up there.
Hmm. I wonder what's going on. Mine has decent engine braking, for an automatic. Around town in 3rd, pull it down to 2nd on the downhill, it slows, or at least doesn't gain, pretty well.

So what happens when you shift from say 4th to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd going down a hill? Nothing? Retarded. I drive in the mountains all the time and never have a problem.
