If this was an ordinary no ECU vehicle issue the first place I would look is low supply fuel pressure. The cause of that could be faulty pump or clogged lines. Thats where I would look as well. If you are long cranking to start then a test - have a friend hold a rag as a filler over the open fuel filler neck and place a compressed air line in there with a blow nozzle. Pressurize the tank and crank her over (you won't ever get enough pressure to damage the system as it will leak back past the rag and you can regulate it down to 60-70 PSI at the compressor. If it starts instantly you know where to look as that pressure will force gas towards the engine.
