If you're really keen, try just removing tire, breaking the bead and cleaning the bead surfaces with a cloth. Recondition the tire surface with tire shine or armour all and flatten out any chunks from the wheel surface with scotch pad/jex or steel wool remembering to wipe off any mess after cleaning with a damp cloth or rag. Just remember if it's really rooted it'll need replacing anyway so giving it a shot can't hurt and will only give you an experience you would otherwise have missed.

10 psi a day is a pretty good leak. I would take it to a shop and have it checked out to make sure the valve is good also. They might just need to reposition the tire on the rim and avoid putting something on it if it's not required. If not, it can be fixed properly and balanced. I wouldn't put any goo in the tire. Have it done right and you won't have to worry or get stuck with a flat.
