Leaking shock
Just got back from servicing my Jeep and found out that I have a leaking right rear shock. Do you guys recommend getting this fixed ASAP? I was also wondering if I'd have to replace both rear shocks or just the leaking one. Finally, if anyone can recommend a a good replacement I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
The ride might be a little rougher, but I dot think you would need to replace the shock ASAP. And if you buy the same kind of shock you currently have then no, you just have to replace that one shock. Hope that helps

About 2 months after I installed my Mopar lift, one of the rear shocks started leaking. Because it was nearly new, I replaced just the one defective shock (under warranty). You can change the shock yourself, with a couple wrenches. It's an easy process.
With older vehicles with a lot of miles on them, it makes sense to change both rear shocks. Again, it is still a job you can do yourself.
My Mopar kit came with the 5100 series shocks from Bilstein. They make a great product. Likely anything mass produced, things will break of fail. Since installing the replacement shock, I've put 35,000 miles on the replacements so far, and had zero problems.

You can have them both swapped out in no time at all! Just buy the ones you want and the day you are going to do it, get in there and spray all the shock mount bolts down with Moovit or another pentrating fluid to ensure when you start turning your wrenches, they come off with ease! You can do this in your driveway with a beer and maybe an hour for the average do it yourself type.
