Default Leaking at water pump lower gasket

I just had a rebuilt engine installed in my 2011 JK and it has been leaking at the seal of the water pump. They have replaced the water pump 3 times but it still leaks a few drops everyday. Could this be a defect in the engine block or is this leak coming from another place? any suggestions would be a great help! See attached pictures.

Regardless of the cause, it shouldn't take 4 tries to fix! A leak in the block is unlikely. The gasket surface may be gouged from cleaning the old gasket off, usually fixed with a flat file and some permatex aviation gasket sealer. Best bet is to use a new Mopar pump/gasket -- rebuilt and after-market have more issues like what you're experiencing.

Stay in touch,

Since the engine is new and you don't risk really breaking any of the water pump bolts, it is a job you can try yourself pretty easily. I just did it recently but had a bolt break off and had to drill it out. But had that not been the case it really is pretty simple. I made sure to take my time cleaning the surface, used a mopar water pump and gasket, didn't use any aviation gasket sealer but since this one has leaked I would recommend it for sure. Otherwise it's unacceptable for it to leak 4 times but if it's dealer repair work, I'd say par for the course since I just did 4 returns myself for a rebuilt transmission and a buddy did 3 returns for a rebuilt engine with things being wrong.

might want to check the valley pan under the intake. could be leaking from there and running down the engine
