Well, finally called the dealer to set up for "leak repairs". Told dealer there was a service bulletin on weatherstrip and I had a "lap pool" on the drivers floorboard. He said to bring it in and they would look at it. I asked if they had the parts in stock (as I need to drive 1/2 hour and leave it with them so adds up to 2 hours +++ of my time if they have the parts, more wasted time if not) and they said it was not definite the dealer would do anything until they look at it. "It's just a service bulletin for my guys to use as a guide". I have 3 inches of water on my floorboards, my NEW Jeep stinks and they are "doubting" me???? A little common sense goes a long way . . .
Sorry, just venting . . .

I generally have a motto, "never buy a new/redesigned model in its first year."
I went against my own advice for the JK Unlimited, and it's too early to say if I'll regret that
Putting up with boneheaded dealers like that is one of the reasons I had that motto in the first place. Hopefully one of two things will happen:
1. The dealer will realize you were RIGHT, and be reluctant to doubt you next time something comes up.
2. You can find an alternate Jeep dealer that's convenient to you, and they give you better service.
My dealer has never made me commit money/time in excess of what they're willing to commit. Though, I haven't had to send my Jeep in for a TSB fix yet-- I've only bought accessories that I (or they) add.

Same rule here, and I also broke it. So far, so good hopefully "Knocking on wood" it will last

Just picked up my Sahara from service for the leak issue. They confirmed the leak and ordered parts. Crap I could have told them it leaked. But I do understand I was a tech at a AMC/Jeep dealership back in 78 to 81. Only thing different then was when a customer had a problem we looked at it when they conplained and ordered parts not bring it in then take all day to check it out then order parts.

I bought the first model year one time before and that was a1984 vette. Need I say more . . . then I fell for the JK 4 dr and I did it again. My father always used to say 3 things 1.) never order a hamburger in a chinese restaurant 2.) don't eat yellow snow and 3.) don't but the first model year of anything.
Well, I did drop it off at the dealer today and I copied all 3 service bulletins and left them on the front seat for the tech
(hope he will read and take the fast easy way). The service writer was just plain stuborn and said that they had not had one leaking JK yet (which I find hard to believe) and that the internet and its different boards are just dangerous and contain false rumors of such things. I told him that with a 6 week old Jeep I really should be enjoying that "new car smell" instead of the "old mildew stink". He then told me it shouldn't be a problem for me to just pull that carpet up and wash it out. I told him that it sure appeared that I would need to pull (or at least loosen the bolts) on the front seats to get the carpeting out from under the brackets. He said it would be between 3 and 5 business days (which means they will have my JK until next Tuesady or Friday) because they have "special leak people" to check these issues out. I also let him know that I had 2 bad air leaks that start to wistle at 60 mph and will abot drive you nuts. One is where all 3 tops meet and the other is in where the two front tops meet the windsheild.
I'll keep you guys posted as to the ongoing saga and its outcome . . .
