On my next purchase I plan on upgrading to tan leather. In my past vehicles, I have always had cloth seats. I guess I have always considered leather better, but with inconviences - hot in the sun, cold in the winter. Perhaps a mistake, but I thought leather lasts longer, is cleaner, and dryer? Anyway, let me know what you think?

 

I went with cloth on mine because I didn't want the hot/cold extremes...as far as I know you can get aftermarket seat-heaters for cloth as well....they stay clean fine as long as you take care of them....plus there's always seat covers if that's what you're really worried about...love mine

Personally, I like them. I have leather in all my other vehicles, heaters for the winter and ventilated for the summer months. But in my jeep, I would destroy them because I run without top and doors up to 9 months out of the year. A serious offroader probably does better with cloth.

I am in between. Cloth is more practical -it seems, but leather looks so awesome.

I am leaning towards leather - simply for the looks - I guess. Has anyone had issues with premature cracking in the leather? I guess if the seats get too bad I will get covers, or simply replace the seats when the time comes.

 

But, O My, the aroma of leather- the only thing better is Canvas, warmed in the sun

 

I was going to buy leather also, but the price did not make sense for a Jeep, mostly if it will go off-road with all the expected consequences.

I then narrowed to neoprene, leatherette and cordura. Crossed neoprene out because it traps dampness and apparently fades fast, crossed leatherette out because it would be even less resistant than leather itself. Final decision was cordura. Now, I'm waiting for the delivery.

So, it all depends on what you will use your Jeep for. ;-)

 

I went with vinyl in my Jeep for a couple reasons:
First I like the look of it over cloth.
Second my dog comes with me for all my outdoor activities his hair does not collect on the seats what so ever. Vacuuming car upholstery is not my idea of fun. I removed all carpeting in my Jeep for the same reason.
Third the vinyl seats do not absorb liquids or odor. Back to the dog, after swimming in creek or rolling in a mud puddle the seats just wipe off and my Jeep does not smell like a wet dog. I think the odor thing is a big one for me. Growing up my parents always had cloth seats in their cars and they smoked cigarettes like it was their job. Needless to say their cars always REEKED.

THIs +1. I run my doors off and top down as much as I can during the spring and summer. Weather would kick leathers butt.. Luckily i pakr mine in the garage but still it wouldnt take long for them to be ruined..

 

I think leather would be nice if you werent going to take your top off....if you are the sun is just gonna kill the leather....plus if you ever get caught in the rain....wouldnt be very nice.
