I guess you mis-understood me. I was just saying he needed to worry about him, not me. maybe you should too. Maybe you didn't see the judgment he passed. not that I care. Maybe you and him could start a "my jeep is wonderful thread" and you could compare how awesome your leakless tops are. Or just keep trolling up others threads. Whatever makes you feel better about yourself I am here to help.

Thanks for the info Blue. I really don't want to get rid of it, but I am sick of the leak. They got the pass. side fixed and claimed when I went to the dealer today that they fixed the drivers side too. :crosses fingers: They oredered a new intermediate shaft for it that will be here wed. Hopefully everything is fixed by the end of the week, which is all I really want.

BTW I am a firm believer in kharma... do unto others and you always come out well.

With all the steering wheel clunks, its amazing Jeep has not redesigned and put out a TSB for the steering shaft.

the dealer told me it was the first one he had seen, but I don't think they get many Jeeps in there. I think the only reason they are going to replace it is because I suggested it may be the problem. (I read your post about replacing yours)

Default Lemon Lay success

hey all - i'm really enjoying my special order 2008 that i received as a replacement for my leaking 2007 lemon.

it's really hard to enjoy your jeep when you are spending all your time dropping off and picking up your lemon at dealership.

impartial services is who handles all the claims for the us market.

document dates and times - send a letter to your states lemon law office, this helps get the dealership 'motivated' to start your claim with impartial services..

Its a jeep. Hell my hard top leaks. I usually just smear some mud on the leaky spots.
Try patching it with a smashed beer can and some duct tape.

Ah yes, the clunk. Mine has been in four times for the clunk and they can't find anything. The last two times it came out it was fine for about two weeks. But now it's back like a bad penny. I think this is my 8th Jeep and by far the most expensive one. I may ask for a rep. to look at it next time.

THat sucks with the top! I've been fortunate so far but all of the weatherstripping on the doos is a joke and never stays on. I was going to silicone them but my luck it would void the warranty.

So the dealer put in a new intermediate shaft and the clunk is gone. This dealership is really trying to patch these problems up. I think that people who say "its a Jeep" and try to say it is supposed to leak, clunk, rattle, catch on fire, have a rabid jackalope in the backseat, or whatever else they claim they all do have never owned a Jeep before this. I think either the JK is the first, or they have never had a nice one. My 72 CJ5 didnt leak a drop. Had a besttop supertop with the 2 piece soft doors. not a drop inside when it rained. none of my CJs or TJs leaked so why does this JK? If you start a sentance with "it's a Jeep" all I see is "hey look at me, I'm a tool and here comes a stupid comment." Just my 2 pennies.

Thanks for posting people who have been there and understand the frustration of your Jeep living at the dealership.

hey 69, what is impartial services? was it hard to do the lemon process? I got the info from my state, but I haven't even opened it yet. I am hoping everything is fixed. thanks for the info!

I agree. And its complete crap for people to say "its a jeep thing" I'm telling you, thats why Jeep builds them the way they do, they know the Jeep mentality.

I'm not going to let a $30k vehicle leak, clunk, do the death wobble, etc.

impartial services is who Chrysler hired to perform the mediating between you and Chrysler for lemon law exchanges or 'buybacks'.

lemon law isn't difficult, just takes about 2-5 months to process, depending if you pursue a cash settlement or buyback/replacement. longest if you pursue buyback/replacement and order a new vehicle from the factory.

first you will need to find and understand your states lemon law statute..

gather all your service records and note all the dates, mileage, problems and what dealer did to try and resolve. (the 1st date you took your vehicle and mileage used to calculate the buyback numbers).

send certified letters to Chrysler and to your Dealer

mail in your lemon law card from your owners manual package.

(note the dates you sent and they received).

contact your states consumer affairs department (this helps motivate the dealer to take action).

i have another thread on this - search on 'softop lemon law'
