Default Lifter tick on startup 3.8

I have a Lifter tick on startup of my 2011 jeep wrangler with the 3.8l v6. The tick is very short lived, maybe a second or two only before going away. Is this something I need to address immediately, or could I have this for years without issue?

P.s, no it isnt a manifold leak. It's not long enough, isn't the same rythem, and I recently checked the manifold for leaks.

How many miles? I had a lifter rattle at cold start on my ‘71 Ranchero, did it for years without ever getting worse. Was still doing it when I sold the vehicle.

My 2010 3.8 with 150,000 miles has done that since it was new. It usually happens when it's cold out. Only lasts a few seconds and never seems to cause any issues.

It has 153k on the odometer. I'm not sure how long it's been going for, I got it about 2k miles ago. I'll keep an ear on it and if it gets worse I'll address it. Thanks for the input guys

It might be your oil filter. If you don't use one with an anti-drainback valve, or if the valve is not working right, you'll get ticking until the oil pressure builds up.

FSM says only to worry about it when the noise is "excessive" whatever that means. I'm kind of doubting its even the lifters. mine is fairly noisy when it starts kind of a rythmic puttering but goes away quickly. i think the sound is just from it running rich for the first few seconds to get things going (normal operation)

maybe, but it doesn't do it if it's a hot start (even the last 8hrs or so)
