Default I don't think so

I don't think that you experienced the stall bug as it was origanally described. With the 07's you would be driving along (for me I was doing 45) and all of the dash lights would come on, like they do with the key in the accessory position, and the engine would die. This lasted about 1 sec and the engine came back on (while still rolling), the lights went off and everything seemed normal. I ended up taking it in for the TSB for the stall and everything was fine after that. Maybe you have a new version of the "stall bug" that has adapted like a virus.

This happened to me about a month ago. I was in a limp home mode and could not get over 28mph (I was 147 miles form home, long night). THe lightning bolt is the Electornic Throttle Control Light.

The dealership ended up replacing the wiring harness and a bunch of sensors in the transmission. It took them a week to get it fixed but it was under warranty. If they try to repair it, insist that they replace the whole harness. Do a search of ETC or Electronic Throttle Control and you will learn a ton.

Same thing happened to me, but it would only come on if the Jeep would idle for a while, like at a red light for a minute or so, then the red lightning bolt would come on, the esp light and it would idle rough and be in limp mode. Turn the Jeep off, then back on and it was back to normal unless you let it idle again. Sometimes it would take 10 minutes of idle time, other times ,10 seconds, but it would never do it anywhere but at idle.

After 3 trips to the dealer, a new throttle body assembly and likely more than a grand of wasted parts and time, it turned out to be a $5 PCV valve. I did not believe them when they said that's what it was on the third trip...but it's been over 6 months without a hiccup...that was it. They said the PCV was sticking causing the computer to throw itself into fail safe.

Try the PCV valve...for a few bucks, it's worth a try.

What you experienced was some form of rationality error - the MAF meter airflow and throttle position is compared target engine speed (more complex than that but you get the picture) - the PCV pemited unmetered air to get into the engine, the revs rise and the throttle couldn't control it (or had to control over a certain amount) - the throttle was then set into limphome to prevent unintended acceleration [lawsuits] (the power cut, and springs take it to a default open position permitting vehicle to limp home).

Sounds logical......... It ran fine last time out but just a quick trip around town at speeds of 35 and lower... I'll try the pcv valve first... could it be something simple?????// Naaa couldnt be

His explanation sounds so much more intelligent than mine. Yeah....what he said. And he is right, the idle would begin to jump for a split second then jump to limp mode.

Seriously...check simple first. The dealer threw a lot of money and time at the Jeep (Including a rental car for me) until the smart mechanic identified the $5 problem.

Had this happen to me this afternoon at approximately 15 miles into a 25 mile ride home. Thing is, I was cruising at 55mph. The last traffic light was 10 miles back. When I parked it in driveway, I shut it off, waited 5 seconds, then started it back up, and both the ETC & ESP lights were off. Service department told me to bring it in first thing in the AM. This sucks as they just consolidated their two locations into one, and the local one lost out...so it's a 35 mile drive now instead of a 2 mile drive. Gotta love it. Will mention the gas spilling while fill up at the pump too when I show up. Will be intresting to hear what they have to say, and knowing what others here have experienced. Thanks all!

Why don't those dealerships log corrections when a problem is solved and share the info? It would save time and money for both parties involved.
