Default Limp mode?

2012 JKU.

Just took her out and immediately got three lights. 1) Downhill Assist 2) anti-slip 3) ABS. All simultaneous. No fault codes, but experienced, what I assume would be LIMP MODE. Turned around and went straight home. Also, tried engaging 4WD. She'll go into 4H and drive. But static/idle in 4L.

Anyone know what the root may be?

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Thanks

Because of the lights I'd suggest having your battery checked, especially if it's OEM--a lot of 2012s are seeing bad batteries. I've seen a bad battery cause various combinations of lights to come on. A local parts dealer can check it for free. You may be under warranty on that, if you want another OEM battery. It is covered by the basic three year warranty, so no prorating involved.

Would you be able to elaborate on why a battery might be the culprit? I have a little over 15,000 miles (new) on it and can't see how a battery would be suspect in this scenario.

Thanks,
Jarett

He is correct the JK's are on a CANBUS electrical system and any kind of battery problem can cause that, howeveer be aware that any loose ground can also cause you problems. I kind of make it a monthly ritual to tighten up any ground in the engine bay, especially anyone I may have added wires to.

Thank you folks for the input, I'll go check my battery...but is there a reason why 4L won't engage? This is in addition to the lights coming on.

Thanks

To be honest, I'm ignoring that for the moment. 4L is a mechanical thing--there is nothing electrical that could prevent you from pulling the transfer case handle into 4L. Limp mode forces the transmission into a maximum of second gear, I believe. I don't have an auto so am reserving comment on that. I recommend the battery because it's so easy to test, and can cause some of the problems that you describe. Whether the others are fixed or not, I'm not sure.

Gotcha. I'll try and take it in to service tomorrow...thought maybe someone experienced something similar.

Just thought it was odd. I get all these lights, and no 4L, all at the same time. Mechanically, it'll go into 4L, but once engaged, no drive.

Thanks

I agree have your battery checked first, but when you have those 3 lights come on, you won't be able to get the codes unless you have a reader from the dealership. Had a those 3 lights come on my 2009 Dodge Ram and it was a bad wheel speed sensor. But sounds like a trip to your dealership might be in your future.
