Default Lockers?

Are the stock rubi lockers good for mud or are they only for rocks? I have been looking up this and I read that you shouldn't go past a certain speed? can someone clear this up for me thanks!!!!!!!!!P.S. I am looking between a rubi or a x with the rear locker!

The Rubicon lockers are limited to use only in 4LO. Obviously that limits the speed options, but if in 4LO you can use them as needed. There have been a few that have modded them to be used in 4HI, and I see the new programmer by Superchip has the ability to make them avalable in 4HI as well.

It's been said before, but it's worth saying again... I'm not sure why anyone would want to use lockers at high speed. I'd think it's raise your risk of breakage exponetially.

Lockers are good for any situation in which you may lose traction with both 1 front wheel and 1 back wheel. When locked, as long as a single wheel (out of all four) has traction, you keep moving.

Lockers sometimes make you slide though. Because the wheels (lets say rear wheels in this case) are turning at the same speed, if you're turning, especially on a slope (say a loose-rock or muddy slope), 1 or both rear wheels WILL lose traction, which may cause you to slide sideways.

I think most people (myself included) only lock when needed (ie - stuck). Some people think of it as cheating :P

I have found using 3rd gear in 4-Lo with the lockers will get you through dang near anything (snow, mud) with plenty of wheel spin. I do consider them cheating and only use them when I need to (stuck, deep snow, etc).

With 40 years of jeeping experience (Rubicon, Sierra Trek, etc) lockers keep you from breaking things.

Lockers are very solid, and very fragile... depends how the driver use it
