all i know now is this has to be fixed
when windshear and grooves in the road cause me to sway about is one thing
but when holding the wheel straight doesnt help hold it in place theres a problem
if i can find a breakaway or exploaded drawing of these things it may halp in the adjustment

yeah that can be dangerous... sounds like to me your steering box is gone bad. i think mine is close behind.... not sure if adjusting it will help... might need a replacement..which would suck

okay i managed to fix it
it turns out that the bolt on the pitman arm was a tad loose causing it to jiggle a bit when the wheel was turned, but was nearly impossible to see.
pulled it off, wire brushed it clean and reset it and tightened the hell out of that bolt
now no more loose steering
