Loss in MPG????
Just wondering if anyone has experienced a big loss in MPG with thier Jeep and if they found out why it did it or ways to correct it. My 2008 Rubicon which is still stock was getting around 15.9 MPG in the city and 19 MPG on the highway. All of a sudden I am getting 14.2MPG on the highway and in the city both with only 8,000 miles on the Jeep. I have not did any mods, no lift, no bigger tires and is still completely stock. Thought I would see if anyone else experienced this problem before it heads off to the dealer to get looked at.
Are you guys going strictly off of what the computer is showing or by your own calculations? Computer isnt always right on the money, its tough to explain why but just as an example, a few weeks ago I spent little to no time on the highway as most of my driving for a few days was through the city, I would hit the highway for maybe 25 KM's each day and I noticed the difference in km/ per litre but it wasnt where it normally would be if I did all of my driving in one of those two areas. You have to drive for a substantial amount of time strictly on the highway or through the city for the computer to really reflect what kind of mileage you're getting in both respective areas. I'm not great at explaining things but hopefully that makes a little bit of sense.
I think we're all getting lower milage with the 10% ethenol blend at gas stations these days. The greenies really sold the public a load of crap on this ethanol... it does not have the energy of gas, uses lots of water to produce, is more expensive, etc. I think everyone, before, after, or like me 2 years on JK, have seen recent reductions with the ethanol blend. And good luck trying to find gas without it.
But, I'll strive to contol my politcal views on this forum.
Q: Does CO2 rise before or after temperature increases?
A: 800 years AFTER temperature increases, THEN CO2 increases
Hmmm, maybe we should get our science from scientists, not politicians.
I say Respect the earth, but don't act stupid!

I found that my tire pressure dropped 5 pounds since early fall. That and the winter blend affected my mileage by 2mpg's. Check your tire pressure. I put the proper air back in my tires and I can already see the needle moving like it did when I was getting around 19.
I have pretty much run gas from our local Walmart exclusively (the savings using a re-loadable card really adds up!) and I have always gotten, and continue to get 19-20mpg when I drive normally, this includes my commute to work and me doing short runs between buildings most of the day. I have 21,6xx on the clock.
