Default low and high beams

Is there anyway to make the low and high beams come on at the same time? Ive noticed a slight delay when switching from low to high where they both come on at the same time and I can see significantly better. Then it goes to just highs. If there is a trick to getting them both on and stay on please enlighten me

No. They are not meant to be on at the same time.

They get hot enough with just one filament lit, they'd probably burn out real quick if you were running both at the same time.

Setting up your vehicle so that when the high beam headlights are turned on, the low beam headlight filaments also stay on, has worked well for me on 3 different vehicles. 1999 Chevy Van, 2002 Wrangler, and 2006 Wrangler. Don't know for sure if it will work with a JK, but I don't see why not.

KC Hilites, makes a Quad Beam Conversion Kit, which works for 2 or 4 headlight vehicles. Part #6314. Go to the bottom of this page to see the explanation:

For me, this is an easy mod that works great to get more light on the road when the high beams are on.

This was a legitimate question by the OP and I don't see why it was necessary to make the "snarky" comment about driving in reverse.

Not "snarky" (nice word btw), just dont think thats a very smart idea. The JK is high enough in stock form an if he has any lift at all its really not a good idea to be runnin around with both his high an low beams on at once an prob his fogs also. Plus there are plenty of aftermarket light sloutions for our stock lights.

High beam headlights are ONLY supposed to be used when there is NO oncoming traffic, so adding the low beam filaments to the high beam headlights will only help visibility, and not bother anybody.

Also, your headlights should be properly aimed regardless of the height of your vehicle.

Adding your fog lights to the mix when the high beams are on works GREAT for those lonely, dark forest roads, when there is no other traffic.

I would be concerned with 2 things.

1. The bulbs themselves were not made to have both beams going at once and I doubt they could handle the heat.

2. From looking at my headlamp wiring, it was definitely not designed to handle the current needed to power both filaments. I would bet money that you'd either blow your fuses and be without lights or worse, you'd melt the wires.

It IS possible to do this on some vehicles, but the JK is not THAT vehicle.

I realize that the OP see's this as an inexpensive way to get more light on the road, but the best answer would be to just upgrade the headlight housing with one from Daniel Stern Lighting or any of the others available from the big aftermarket companies.

If you wanted to tackle this, it would be in your best interest to use relays and heavier gauge wiring as the possibility of melting your wiring is high.

Still people do crazy things and this is the reason why other people benefit from the junk yards. If his Jeep burns down, then that means possible donor parts, so look on the bright side
