Default Manny Trans.. do you skip shift? Power shift?

With the short gear ratios I am wondering if any of you skip shift.. first to third, second to fourth, third to sixth etc.. ??

How about power shifting? easing out of the first gear and slipping into the next as the gears mesh, without using the clutch?

If you rev-match you can power-down-shift as well. I've been driving a manual for ages and all of these make driving the short ratios much easier when on surface roads..

My friend "power shifts" in his Honda. It's pretty cool lol. But I'd use the clutch, it's half the fun!

I skip gears all the time. 2nd to 4th, 3rd to 5th, heck I've even done 3rd to 6th on real short merges (crank it up to 60 mph ASAP and then drop it into 6th once I am merged and going the same speed as traffic).

Never shifted without the clutch though...I would rather replace 2 or 3 clutches than replace 1 transmission. I know it can be done without any problems if you are careful and practiced at it, but I just don't feel like practicing (a.k.a. messing up at least a few shifts) on the transmission that I am hoping is going to last me over 10 years.

Learning the sweet spot to power shift will be at the expense of your synchros.

I do both. Usually skip first all together unless starting on an up-grade. Though I go 1, 3, 5 more than 2, 4, 6. I usually clutch-less shift from 3 to 4 and 4 to 5 as they are the gears I use the most. Kinda sketching doing it the first few times and I don't do it that often, my clutch has had a hard enough life as it is.

I skip shifts all the time, forget starting in second its almost impossible with 3.37 and 35's
I do down shift ane engine brake but always use the clutch, none of this power shifting stuff. I dont think the JK tranny can handle that abuse.

Skip shifts all of the time--I don't even think about it, it just happens. Power shifting? Why? It's a Jeep with a minivan motor.
