manual vs auto tranny?
Or you could build your own Rubicon like I did... started with an X, added the Rubi t-case, lockers front and back, etc. Meh, shoulda bought a Rubi to begin with. 
In any case... with my 4.88s and 4:1, I enjoy a plenty deep crawl ratio. I prefer a manual every time PROVIDED you have enough gear reduction to make the threat of stalling whilst going up almost nil.
Manual holds the advantage in power (no torque converter robbing your engine of grunt); manuals don't run hot and require tranny coolers; manuals are better on steep, loose, dangerous descents.
