Default Max Rev in 2007 JKU X Auto

Hey everyone,

My JKU X has been intermittently not starting but the dealership was not able to recreate the issue (happens about once or twice a month). It attempts one try to turn over but then doesn't.

Anyhow, this last time I got it to start and revved it up a bit and noticed that when I floor it my rev limits at 4000 RPMs. Is that correct for an auto? I have an AirRaid Intake and Rusty's Axle-back Exhaust. I have a Superchips tuner too but wasn't sure if the last program was reset or not since I disconnects the negative terminal the other day to install my IPF Headlights.

Long story shirt, does the auto even hit redline at all? I seemed to be only able to rev first ear to 4000.

Thanks,
Pat

I had a truck that did that. After a set of plugs, wires, and fuel filter, it ran like a champ.

Do a search on hard starting, adding a extra ground from the body tostarter bolt to bell housing bolt took care of this issue.Though not good, mind will spin up to5000+ with ease

I maybe wrong, but if it's in park, it will not rev too high. Engine safety feature.

Yup, when in park and you try revving it, it only goes up to 4k. Some sort of rev limiter, but when driving you can actually redline it. you can adjust the rev limits with your SC...

Thanks everyone. I wasn't sure if it was a park thing because I haven't had an automatic in years.

Also, thanks for the ground tip. I'll search it out and see what I can find. He's got a trip to the dealership on Tuesday too to get all ready for a long drive to OBX.

Why would you want to rev it higher than that in park anyways?

Not that I WANTED to but just noticed it. It's like when you jump start a car you rev it up for a bit. I was doing the same thing and noticed it.
