Mini van engine
Mini van engine derivative or not, I'm impressed by the initial throttle response of my auto Rubi 2 dr. By that I mean if I get on it at a light, the entire hood raises and the Jeep takes off like a scalded cat. Well maybe not scalded, but decently quickly.
Of course by the other side of the intersection, things get a bit noisy as the engine revs and the quickness disappears totally. Luckily by then most mini vans and Camrys have given up the fight.
To my way of thinking, this is exactly the sort of behavior an off road vehicle should have. Early onset of torque, followed by a flat torque curve.
When I want the fun to continue further than across an intersection, I drive my C6 Corvette!
Bottom line...I love my Jeep. Its lack of high speed performance is just part of its personality.

I fully agree.
The only problem with the 3.8L is that the flat spot on the torque curve needs to be shifted up on the scale by at least 100 ft-lbs and 150 ponies.
