Default mud tires and rim sizing

I got a stock 2013 jeep wrangler sahara unlimited gear ratio 3.21. Wanted to put some bfg mud terrain tires on it but I need different rims to do it. They don't have that tire to fit a 18inch rim. Any suggestions on what rims I could get that would fit on my jeep and with the bfg tires without changing anything?

There is a wheels & tires section in the FAQ's, stuck to the top of the Modified Tech area.

Are you staying with stock sized tires, or going bigger?

5 x 5 bolt pattern.

Stock backspace is around 6.25". (offset will vary, depending on the rim width). As that number goes down, the rims/tires move further out. A 4.50" backspace is the general recommendation for 35x12.50 tires.

The specs for the new tire will include a 'recommended rim width' range. 8-9" seems to be a common choice. Stock rims are generally 7-7.5".

The 3.21's will hurt you pretty bad for any tire above 32" tall if that is something you are considering.

Max you can run without rubbing, or maybe a little trimming. I ran these at stock height or a while.
17" x 9" wheels, 4.5" backspacing
305/65-17 (close to a 33x12.5)

Also, unless you are specifically after mud, the AT KO2's are great for everything else and come in more sizes.

I'd go with 17x9 wheel with 4.5 BS as already mentioned; however, I'd buy wheels cuz I wanted wheels, not necessarily cuz I wanted one specific tire that didn't come in an 18" flavor. There are a lot of tires out there.

I picked up some BFG MT take offs from Rubis and went from the small 225's to 255/75 17 (ok, there wer some 245 75 16's in the middle). Rim choice is really your own. There are various tires and sizes available and until you go over 32's you should be fine with stock rims. But with that there is another issue - are you staying with stock gears or not? You really need to look at those as well as when I went from 225's to 245's on 3.21's I was hurting..... then I regeared from 3.21's to 4.11's and went to the 255's (32") after that. I am happy that I regeared because I can't imagine driving on 32's with 3.21's...

You can also look at Goodyear Duratracs. I'm running a set on 18" rime now with no issues. Went with 275x65r18 which comes in at 32" tall and 3:21 gears. NO issues and they will fit fine on your stock Sahara wheels.
