I'm having a Flowmaster 40 welded up on mine tomorrow...I scored the Flowmaster for Free and the shop is doing the welding for $35.00..I can finally lose that big piece of Pooh off the back of the Jeep.

These aftermarket Exhaust system are WAY over priced.

Heres a New flowmaster 40 on Ebay. $28.95

A little welding and tail pipe and your done. I would think most shops will do the job for under $100.00

Its that or $400.00 plus for an aftermarket bolt on unit. Most are just a replacement for the stock unit...If your going to do it make sure to relocate your evaporation canister and put that new muffler under the drivers side door.

Go to Mineke and just have them weld your muffler on. I had an exhaust tip get mangled on an old car, so I cut it off with a sawzall, grabbed a new exhaust tip from autozone, and mineke welded it on for $15.

I don't know exactly what muffler I have but its something like this:

w ww.magnaflow.com/02product/shopexd.asp?zone=main&id=8674

Basically what we did was hacked off the majority of cat-back beyond the rear axle then we installed this muffler in the straight section under the driver side of the jeep.

They have a bunch of these that come in different lengths. We've used the longer versions for the 4drs vs the 2drs. I'm going to see if I can find someone with a camera this weekend.

I just put on the flowmaster 40 delta series and it sounds sick when you start it up. It is actually pretty quiet on the highway, I can hear my tires over the exhaust. Around 1500-2500 rpm it's kind of loud and I get a little drone inside the cab. It's only been a week, but I heard it mellows out and gets even deeper. Cost me like $140 for exhaust and weld at a local shop.

Oh yea Butler there is a shop in glen burnie that does fantastic welding work. It's call Tony's custom exhausts. They get great online reviews and are very professional..no BS.

Hmm..I've had no experience with the cherry bomb, but I like my flowmaster delta 40. I'd say the 40 is a safe bet for a nice growl.

Default the NERVE of some exhaust shops!

After reading this thread last night, I decided to do some research and call around to a few exhaust shops today to price something out. Given what some of the posts on here have said, I expected to pay about $50 to $75 bucks for a muffler and maybe $35 bucks to weld it on.

The first place I called, Meineke, said to cut my old muffler off, and weld on a Flowmaster 40, it would run me $350!!!!

So I made a few more calls and found a much more reasonable place to do the welding, will prob cost me about $130.
