muffler rust prevention?
Hey everyone i have been noticing every new jk i see out on the road has quite a bit of rust on the muffler already, even still with dealer plates! And being that the muffler is very visable it just looks like crap, i mean they're brand new! i take it they're not stainless. has anyone painted their mufflers with rustolium or some sort of anti rust coating, what have you used and how has it worked?

Painting it is probably the best solution other than replacing it with stainless steel, or a smaller aftermarket that can be mounted elsewhere. My looks bad, as soon as the weather breaks I'm going to clean it up and spray it black.
I used flat black high temp grill paint and it worked great, didnt even take it off just crawled under and sprayed it on the jeep. Been a couple weeks now and holding up great, dont even notice the bumper now. I would post pics but there are plenty of examples in the threads mentioned above.

My Magnaflow is stainless, but it still has some slight surface rust on it sometimes, but nothing doesnt come off with a scotch brite pad, but you cant see my muffler so I dont care what it looks like

Just painted mine yesterday morning. Broke out a wire brush, a little mineral spirits, and an old rag. Took all of 1/2 hour and looks great! Best 5 bucks spent to date on the JK.
Now I got to work on all these damn scratchs I keep finding all over the place!!
