Thumbs down My problems so far at 3695 miles

Ok here is problems I have had with my Jeep. When I first got my Jeep from the dealership it was the 1st that they had gotten on the lot. It was raining that day. I test drove it and the only thing I sall was a slite scrape on the top of the dash which the sales agent said he would get replaced, and the heat didn't work either. I took it back the next day and they fixed the heat and order the part for the dash. It ended up being that thr switch on the dash was not connected. I drove it around another week and I noticed that there was three dents, one on the hood, one on the left front fender and one on the right rear corner panel. They were not that noticable. You can only see them at the angle. I showed this to the dealership and they said that the warranty would not cover fisical damage do the the inspection prior to delivery. I got my 1st oil change two weeks ago and now have driven about 700 miles. I checked the oil after they changed it and they only filled it to slitely above the safe mark. I check it today and had to add a little over a half a quart to it. That got it back to a little over where is was. So i started looking around for a leak. And I found so oil or something leaking from around my transfer case. Taking it back to the shop again for them to take look at on monday. So far I have not been very happy at all with the quality of this vehical and was wondering if any one else has had these problems?

Sorry Hazzard, but i have not had any of these issues at all, except for some "dents"... there is a spot on one of my doors that at just the right angle looks like a flat spot or dimple or something. I think it is due to how thin the sheet metal is on these. As with any new models there are going to be bugs to be worked out, like the radio cutting out, hardtop leaking, and sluggishness that we've all been dealing with. If you have any of these issues check my write up on the hardtop leak at: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-write-ups-39/hardtop-leak-fix-1626/ and even if you're not having sluggishness and radio problems, check your manufacture date and if its before november 10th 2006, go to your dealer and have them do the Technical Service Bulletin #1803606... its basically and update for the PCM software. Anyway, as i was saying, an new model is going to have bugs to work out, but it seems like maybe you've gotten a lemon.. i hope they get it worked out for you. Good luck.

What if it is a lemon and I just keep having more and more problems? Then what? What would be the next step?

Read the lemon law book.i had my 2003 tj go back under the lemon law in fl.not sure if your states the same but 3 times(the 4th time it go back) for the same thing that keeps you from driving it or driving it safely or so many days out of service.the book tells you when you need to tell DC the you are going to lemon law it and the steps you need to take.you may still lose money having to buy a new jeep.jeep gave me a check for what i paid less miles plus add on accessories.I bought a new 2004 tj with out DC help and saved $$$$.I hope it will not come to that for you .good luck

The dealer should have given you the lemon laws with your Jeep when you bought it. They vary from state to state, but it's worth a read. Your situation is not the norm... scratched, dented and leaking How many miles had it been driven when you picked it up?

Well I took my Jeep to the dealership this monday and they had to give me a rental do to them being short on mechanics. So they gave a maroon Hundai Elantra so sexy The guy from the dealship called yesterday and said that it was the Transfercase that was leaking and they were going to order a seal. They couldn't find any other leaks around the motor to explain the 1/2 quart of missing after 700 miles. So they were going to put some dye in the oil and check it out at the next oil change. I also told them that my battery light came on and about the service annoucement so they would flash my ecu. My Jeep was an early production built in August.

So everyone with new JK look under your transfercase and check for leaks. Mine wasn't leaking onto the ground it was collecting in the crossmember.
