Default My soft top shrunk!

I took off my hard top and was putting up my soft top when it just wouldnt reach. I'm about 4 inches shy of reaching the top of the windshield. I called my dealer and they said it need some heat, or sunlight to loosen it up. Unfortunately, it been raining ever since.

Has anyone else heard this, or have this problem?

Yes, it happens. I would usually park my TJ out in the sun for a couple of hours before putting the top back up. It just needs a little warmth to stretch.

When I first got my JK it was in the 40's outside. I had the dual top option and did not pay attention to the manual that said it must be warm before you can set up the soft top. I had to place a space heater in the cab and put a tarp over the soft top to allow it to heat up enough to install. It took an hour or two, but in the end it worked fine.

Yes, it definitely pays to have a warm sunny day, and leave the top out in the sun when you put it up again.

On my 79 CJ7 I had to use Pliers to pull it then the wife would try to snap it when it got cold, & even then a few snaps never did get snapped, just hopes the heater was working real well. When it get warm/Hot the will go on like butter.
And at 58 yo , it really don't have to get to cold for it to Shrink, sorta permanent situation now.

My '79 CJ was the same way. And the tan top took even longer to heat up.

Also, I am pretty sure that was too much information.
