Default My troubles... if you care.

SO... I picked up my 4th Jeep (1 YJ and 2 TJ's) at the end of this past January. Its an 08 2 door sahara w/29k on it. Driving it home, i noticed some serious wind noise from the header/ windshield area. I joined this forum and learned about the TSB's regarding this issue. I brought it down to the local jeep dealer and informed them of the problem. 4 hours later, they told me it was one of the loudest they heard and that they would order and replace the header. Great. So, a few days later on my way back to the dealer for the repair, it was raining and i noticed leaking coming from above both doors, just above the handles (another TSB). I told them of this and they said it would be addressed during the repair. 5 hours later, it was done. I asked about the leak and they said it was resolved by replacing the header. Liars. I walked out to my jeep (in the rain) and as soon as i opened the door, i could see it still leaking above the passenger door. So, i walked back to the service desk and had the manager come out and look for himself. He said i would have to bring it back for further testing. So, a week later, i bring it back and just drop it off for the day. 9 hours later they call me to come and pick it. I get there and they tell me that they have to order a new gasket for the top of the windshield. Im like, seriously dude?!?! You had this all day and thats what you got for me.? SO, today i drop it off for that repair. I pick it up 9 hours later only to be told i have to bring it back again to replace the vertical side bar on the drivers side. WTF?!?! They said they felt bad about this so when i bring my jeep back next week for this repair, they would give me an oil change on the house. Thats nice, BUT when i walk out to the parking lot to get in my jeep, i notice a glaring dent and paint chip on the top of my windshield frame as if someone were trying to pry up the front of my soft top with a screwdriver or something. SO, i go back in and the manager and i go outside and discuss this. The resolve is that i drop my jeep off on monday and they give me a loaner while they send it to the body shop. OK, i know this was long winded and my wife is making fun of me as a write this, but i'd like to know what you guys think i should do... I know the obvious response is to go to another dealer but i think i need to stick this out here as now they are in it for body repair... thanks.

Way to hang tough. You seem pretty calm about it. I'd have gone crazy and probably blown it making everyone too mad to get the work done. Seems like you did good.

Ha..sounds like something that would happen to me...

Going through the same "leaky soft top" problems as well...already had it in for a day and a half (they ordered new door seals and kept the Jeep overnight.)
They called the next day..."all set"!
Ya right...a few hours later...rain, and the leak is back...call them up...they guy I was dealing with wasn't there (of course) told them it was still leaking and he said Hmmm...we'll have to adjust the doors...
I told him that the leak was coming from under the top, not the doors...and if they'd spent any time looking for the source of the leak they would have seen where the drip was coming in...he said well...you still have to bring it back, but I haven't yet.
My observation is that they are just throwing random possible fixes at the problem and not seeking out the true source...

You are not alone my friend!! It's enough to make you crazy!!

Let us know if the header gasket fixes the leak okay??

Thanks guys.. the folks in the service department are pretty nice, so i guess thats whats keeping me chill... for now... but it is getting really annoying.. my 98 TJ had a 4 inch teraflex longarm kit and 35" MTRs. Over the 9 years i owned it, i only had to replace the radiator, exhaust, starter motor, a ball joint and weld a rear shock mount. 140k miles and it ran like a champ. Never took it to a dealer, just driveway repairs with my buddy. Im really not diggin these JK issues. ill post a pic of the "carnage" inflicted to my windshield frame tomorrow.

oh, and Mowbizz, i agree with your observation. They seem to just keep randomly guessing and not really inspecting. Ill keep this drama updated as it unfolds.

1.Take picture and more pictures
2. Make an appointment with the dealership owner
3. Inform them they have a serious service department problem
4. Give all the names that you were in contact with.
5. And all service and damage that occurred.
6. Ask if they would walk out to the service department with you.
7. If not that means they wont resolve the service department problem
8. And that the Factory Rep will be notified along with outside state agencies
