I just threw a code this morning pulling into the parking lot at work today. (23 miles lot to lot.) <this is important because the code description says;

Fuel Level Unit No Change Over Miles

* During low fuel.
* Fuel level sending unit voltage does not change for more than 40 miles

the actual code is for "Fuel Level Sensor 'A' Circuit"

I'm currently in the process of buying a new vehicle and planning on trading this one in. and would rather not have any codes when they evaluate for trade in price.

how easy/hard would it be to diagnose and fix the issue? approximate cost?

I'd disconnect your battery terminals first to clear the code and see if it comes back.
