Default need some advice

Ive been getting a ticking/knocking sort of sound from what sounds like probably my engine. Its only when my jk hasent been driven for a while like first thing in the morning. I tried letting it warm up before driving and it didn't make a difference. The sound is only when I hit the gas and then goes away quickly. It then won't happen again till the next time its not driven for a while. Not sure how concerned I should be or if I should bring it to mechanic. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

It sounds like your hydraulic lifters. They will sound like that until the oil pressure comes up. Shouldn't be that big of a deal maybe switch to a lighter grade oil if the sound annoys you.

Yep, it's a common issue in the 3.8. A lot of people blame the oil filter. I'm running a Motorcraft filter and havn't noticed any problems. If you do a search for engine knock at startup you will find a ton of threads.

Also how long has it been since you changed the oil? When oil breaks down and loses viscosity it doesn't protect as well which can cause more noise and wear. Also check your oil level

Thanks for the replys. I thought that might be the case. Just wanted to get some other opinions. I can be pretty paranoid when I here my jeep making new sounds.
