New brakes @ 14000 miles?
2011 Jeep Wrangler Sport 2DR, Took it to the dealership for, what seemed like, completely worn out brakes. (didn't want to believe that with only 13,940 miles) Dealership calls back an hour later and says I need new brakes all the way around. They said I had sticks and mud stuck in the brakes causing them to wear out early. Warranty on wearable items ran out after 12k miles, so I'm paying the bill? Service manager tells me anytime I drive in mud I need to take off all four wheels and powerwash. The reason I bought a jeep was so it could handle the light abuse I gave it. Anyone else have these problems? Any advice?
Absolutely not I ha a 2011 with 34k and go off road as much as possible. Just checked my brakes and they are not even half worn yet in the front and the rear has a long way to go. Sounds like a master cyl PR proportion valve issue to me. The only way to wear them out that fast is to constantly ride the brakes with your foot or to have hydraulic pressure remaining after you release the brakes. I'd go with the latter and take it to different dealer too.
Seems really early, even for just rear brakes it would be early (unless you really take a lot of hard cornering and trigger the esp way too often)
The brakes on a JK are stupid-easy to change. If you can take off a wheel you're almost done!
