So I went to take my doors off my JK. The owner's manual had the directions written out pretty well, but when i went to actually disconnect the harness the red tabs were going up and down not left to right. I couldn't get the damn things to disconnect. I had to have my boyfriend do it. He had a horrible time getting them undone and he is a pretty strong guy. My questions are:
1. Is anybody else's red tab like this?
2. Is there any kind of lube that can be used on these harnesses?

My '01 TJ doors were nowhere near this much a pain in the ass to take off.

The tabs in my 2011 go up and down as well. Whenever I reconnect them, I don't push the tabs up as I've found they're hard to get undone again once I wanna go doorless. Once you push the connectors together, it snaps. Seems to work fine for me!

 

The front door connections slide up and down. The tears slide left to right. Just slide them and then press in on the connector right below the red clip and pull them down.

 

Thanks, hopefully it will get easier after I take them off a few times.

I took my doors off for the first time today!

I had a hell of a time taking the front wiring harness' off as well.

very irritating!

 

Just like a women , it gets easier the more you do it.
