Default new to jeeps need help!

I just bought a 2008 jeep wrangler unlimited Sahara, I really would like a good list of preventative maintance and things I need to watch for, and be cautious of! Anyone have the time to help a new proud fellow jeep owner out? Ha ha here are a couple of pics of my new jeep!

Nice jk, I would recommend changing air filter, engine oil, gear oil and tcase fluid. Also can't hurt to clean the undercarriage and frame rails to prevent rust, u can just use a garden hose and spray the underneath and in the frame holes.

Now in terms of the "death wobble" that is very common in these jeeps which I and many others have experienced. It's when your steering wheel looses control and you go into a wobble like state. This is caused by many things and happened to be my steering dampner or called steering stabilizer. Now Chrysler is aware of the issue and have installed an external bracket above the dampner to avoid it blowing out causing wobbles. I would recommend if you don't have the bracket to go get one because I guarantee that thing will give out. So Check yours periodically looking for resin or hydraulic fluid meaning its leaking or blown causing It to be ineffective. Then maybe some undercoating rust protection. Then the rest is up to you to start modding etc! These things are nearly endless to possibilities so enjoy.
Yea it is from the dealership, anyone have a picture of what the brackets look like installed so I can compare and try to avoid the horrible death wobble, I've heard a lot about it, and I don't want it to happen to me!

Its a plastic box mounted under your Jeep. No protection on it what-so-ever. just hangs there. its likely that it will get damaged. you can either re-locate it ore get a skid plate. I think it's one of the first things you should do. I went the skid way.

I am 100% positive that your SS does not cause DW...i can post up pics of me wheeling and driving with out even a SS on. Please dont freak out a new jeeper that his SS is going to cause him DW.

the rest of the info in the thread is legit. Welcome to the world of empty pockets.....(not cause your jeep will break down..but because you want to baby it with new toys all the time)
