I don't know if this has been done yet.
I am always looking for new places for increased storage.
Has anyone opened up the tailgate, and taken off the vent cover? Just 2 pull points, and I have to admit, there is a bigger space in there than what I thought would be.
I am thinking for wallet storage, when at the beach with the tops off. that way, I can leave the console open, so they don't pry it open...

 

For a wallet sized item it's a smart idea. Note that the gap isnt uinform and does narrow so it's possible to get something small jammed and unable to reach it. There's a lose nut rattling inside mine from when I attached the rear tire carrier.
