Newbie question
Can you get locking diffs for the X, and sahara? I couldnt find any info on it other then on the rubicon. And what is the main difference between the X and sahara, if you got the options for power windows and door locks for the X, what is the difference.
You can get lockers for the X, but you only get a rear locker as where the Rubicon has lockers in the front and rear. You can also get the electric sway bar disconnect on the X as an option. As for the X and Sahara, visually the sahara has the 18 inch rims and painted to match fenders, and i think they have a different interior too. Other than that its alllllll Jeep

In dealing with snow (we do not get it here very often). We got 6-9 inches here last week. I was blowing thru it at 40mph in 4 hi, this is up and down hills on the twisty back roads. not one issue without lockers.
4 dr or 2?
As SoCalChuckster said, the sahara has more "pretty" features like chrome (really silver paint), different wheels/tires, and a few other items. If you go to the build a jeep on their website you can see that you have to go with certain models/options to get other options to appear.
In most cases the dealer goes by this critiera but sometimes you can find a dealership to build a custom package for you. I would think with the economy they maybe more willing now.
I have a Rubicon. If I was to do it all over again I would buy the x and add my own after market options.
But as toad states, you really don't need lockers for snow. The 4wd in the new jeeps is all you need!

I do a decent amount of offroading, mostly mudding, lots of snow driving because I travel alot in the winter for skiing, and go places that have sometimes 3 feet of snow on the road. So having lockers would help I believe??

Having lockers is always a good thing. But locking in the snow before getting stuck is not a good idea. As the vehicle rounds a corner, the outside wheel needs to turn faster as it is rounding a larger arc. The tighter the corner the greater the difference. If the left and right are locked together, one will have to slip relative to the ground to negociate the corner. If you run locked in the snow you'll break traction around corners, not good.
However, getting stuck in the snow happens all the time and typically, one wheel will spin as the other stays stationary. Not good for getting unstuck, this is where you'd want lockers.
When I drive in the snow (not all that often), I run with the lockers off. If I hit really deep snow and was just trying to get or keep going (meaning you're spinning anyway), lock em up and enjoy more traction. If the snow is hard packed or in patches, leave is open. If it is snowing heavily and you are in low traction situation, obviously there is no worry of breaking traction and its time to lock em up.
The X offers the rear locker as an option for $750 but you gotta get the sway bar disconnect option along with it for another $750. I have and X with the option and it is most definately good insurance. The Sahara is considered an uplevel, appearance group. Functionally, its not better than the X other than the larger wheels and the upgraded yes essentails fabric.

Hmm....Yea thats the thing...I need lockers because there are times when I drive in snow that is 2-3 feet deep, and there are times when im at my camp ground and the road isnt plowed. So lockers are a must, just cant afford the rubibicon
