Default No blend. Actuator working.

Hey, all. I have a 2011 Wrangler Sport. A clicking noise started in the dash. The shop replaced an actuator (I'm not sure which one) but now I have no blend for AC or heat. Either all cold or all hot. I took it back 5 times, & they can't find what's wrong. I looked at the blend actuator on the driver side, & its not a Mopar part. So I assume thats what they replaced. I replaced it with Mopar, but still same problem. The actuator will move completely to cold or completely to hot. If you try a blend anywhere in between, nothing. Thoughts? Controller maybe?

Welcome to JKF..here is a symptom of a blend air door issue: One of the most common signs of a blend door problem is when the defrost is turned on, but it takes a while to get going. Most of the time, the windshield won't defrost, does so slowly, or remains foggy after a while. Full hot/cold Also: If replacing a blend door actuator, check to make sure the blend door position is completely closed before installing the new blend door actuator. If the blend door is left open, even slightly, the temperature inside the vehicle will not match the A/C temperature selected. This might provide more insight: https://wranglerjkforum.net/threads/...gler-jk.26103/

I reinstalled the actuator ensuring the blend door was fully closed. Still only moves to fully open or fully closed. Doesnt not move at all when using the temperature knob. Only when you hit all cold or all hot will it activate moving the door. So, my vent/AC temp corresponds accordingly... all hot or all cold.
(I do not have auto temp control btw.)

Does the actuator try to move the door at all between hot and cold? I think there are more than one actuator door. I would have to check but I think there is one for recirculating air from the outside, one for the vents etc. and then one to mix the air. Just asking, are you sure you are looking at the right one?

As far as what I can tell from researching, I am troubleshooting the correct one. Blend actuator on drivers side that controls the door allowing heat in (controlled by the temperature knob). The other 2 are for vents & recirculation.
Every once in a while when turning to a different temperature setting, the actuator may do a slight glitch, almost like its getting a weak signal but not enough to actually make it function. Thats why I'm wondering if maybe it's the control panel. However, I didn't have an issue with blend at all to begin with. I only had the clicking sound. No issues with heat or ac temp at all until the shop replaced the actuator.

It looks like there is a connector with three wires going to the blend actuator. Maybe the connector isn't fully seated or one of the connectors is bent, pushed back etc. You can probably measure the voltage as well to see if it is changing or not. Since you changed the actuator out twice I am guessing it has to be the correct one. You have checked to make sure there is no bind or anything like that keeping it from moving freely. It is possible the control panel is bad but since it was working before it would seem it should still be working. Strange things can happen though.

Where did you get your control panel? I have the same exact issue and after replacing all the blend doors I could see the shop today told me it's the blend door actuator that's hidden behind the dashboard by the heater core that requires me to pull out the entire dash. I'm devastated but my theory prior was to replace the control panel cuz I've read on here the memory unit behind it can go bad. Is your heat now working? I have no heat :(

What year is yours? I'm not a mechanic and had no problem replacing my blend door. You just remove the small access panel under the steering wheel. The control panel was more involved where I took the dash apart. I referenced the video below for the blend actuator. I don't have power doors, so I don't have the first module that he takes out. Just make sure you install it with the blend door closed (actuator arm up). And I have seen people having with issues using cheaper actuators. They don't calibrate properly. I would spend the extra money & do Mopar off the bat.
