OEM JK tracks wierd
I have a 2007 JK, totally stock except for big MTRs which I installed at 47K miles. 61,000 miles now. About a year ago, about six months after getting the tires, I started to notice that the JK tracks weird. The feeling is like you're getting hit with large wind gusts while at freeway speeds. It will also veer sharply when hitting the brakes, but only on rutted blacktop. Stops perfectly straight while braking on concrete. It will also change lanes seemingly quicker then intended, but then seems to straighten out.
Steering damper?
Track bars?
Alignment?
Don't know what to do or try at this point.

Maybe a slipped belt or 2 in the tires. Saw this on a Google search.
Got a car in that can't be driven at 45mph. It drives mint up to that speed, then instantly, it feels EXACTLY like a big wind gust hit the car from the side. Then you slightly correct, and it heads off in the other direction with NO notice. This car WILL scare anyone who tries to drive it.

Hope it's not that. Those babies ( MT/R 285/70/17) cost me about $1200. When this all started, they only had like 5000 miles on them. All hard pack roads and snow.

What air pressure are you running in those tires?
I only ask, since I had the same squirrelly feel driving when I put my 285/70/17 Duratracs on. I had to drop the pressure to 30lbs to get the same stock tracking on all roads, and speeds. Started out at 37lbs.
It's free to try different tire pressures. Maybe worth a shot.

I had continued reading everything I could. Noticed others talking about pressure. Just dropped to 32 PSI (was like 45) an hour ago. Seemed different, but don't think that was it yet. Going to keep reading/learning.

You just need one bad tire to make it feel/handle weird. Not sure if it can be seen visually. Can you take it to a tire store that carries the brand or back where you bought them?

I'll probably take it back to the store and have them check the alignment, as well as the tires. i will probably replace the steering damper also as that is pretty easy to do.
I do know that it handled weird over several tire rotations without much of a change in the weirdness.

I had the same problem with Mickey Thompson mtz's, got a new set of Goodyear duratracs and the problem is gone. The tires were 4 years old and not rotated properly.
