Default Off set ball joint

Recently I placed some spacers to the rear springs. The direction suggested an alignment and so I did.

The guy at the shop said that he cannot get a pefect alignment to the left front tire secondary the stock ball joint. He said I should be fine as long as I rotate my tires regularly.

He did say that if it gets worse, I would have replace it with and off set ball joint.

Can anyone shed some light on the subject for me? How does the off set work and improve my alignment?

Can I do this at home? I have small amount of mechanical abilities and lots of tools. Do I need special tool to remove the ball joint?

Thanks,
John

If your camber is off you'd need an adjustable ball joint to correct this. Camber being off can be one of a few things, blown ball joint(which alinement guy should be able to recognize) or a bent C or axle housing. You'd need a ball joint press of your choice with an adapter cup to fit the jk b-joint. Camber is the way your tire leans in or out at the top, if your outta spec, it'll cause excessive tire wear.

I have the same problem. The first time my entire housing was replaced with only 3000 miles on the jeep. My first stop leaving the dealership was for sleeves and gussets. Then again at 15k when I replaced my tires it was out if spec again. My bjs are fine and no one who looks at it can find anything bent. I don't really care since I know I will be replacing my tires every 15k due to rock rash anyway, but im curious how many others have similar problems

I believe it is the camber that is off. The alignment guy stated the cheapest fix is the adjustable BJ. But did suggest that other, more expensive, fixes are available.

He also stated that the way it sits, I am good if I rotate every five k.

I am sure it won't be long and I will have to fix them.

Thanks,
guys.
