Even with using synthetic I always change my oil when the oil change indicator light comes on or 3-4k miles. Whichever comes
First

Believe the manual says every 6k but that's just too long

I do every 6 months otherwise I would do 6000 miles, but I don't drive that much.
I have sent my oil to the lab and never had an issue .
When the light comes on I just rest it.

Been a lot written about this lately. All car manufacturers, oil companies, and engine experts say to change as described in the owners manual. They say there is no reason to change at 3,000 miles - that is a Jiffy Lube promotional technique for them to make money. California is starting to tell there drivers to quit changing oil so often because it is a big waste of oil (10,000,000 gallons per year).

Which is retarded because 99% of that used oil gets recycled anyway.

Bottom line, do what you feel comfortable with; a little bit of superstition never hurts when it comes to oil changes.

I've done my vehicles every 5K (myself, BTW) and have never had an engine problem on a vehicle I've bought new. The JKU will get the same.

Mobil 1 5W-20 and filter changed every 5000 miles. 5000 miles is well less than 6 months driving for me. I would not go more than 6 months between changes if you are a low milage driver.

I change when the light comes on, which is usually about 3000 miles. 99% in town driving.

historically have done the 3K change on previous jeeps. with this one i will go to 5K. the new synthetic oils can go 10K+, so why change out so often. totally goes against why you pay for it to begin with. planning on 5K changes at this point once i get past the break in phase. go a little bit longer and put the money into a better filter imo. so often people and dealers slap on a cheap filter that can do more damage than an extra 2k of miles
