Oil change

All my vehicles have been maintained the same way. Dump original oil and filter at 2000 mi and then switch to synthetic and every 5000 mi after. A lot of people think it's a waste of money, but when I drain my oil at 5000, it's pretty dirty. I also do a lot of city driving.
It's not necessarily a waste of money. But it may be.
Some folk's duty cycle makes 3k changes appropriate. Other may not need to change for 5k, 8k, or more. There's no one size fits all.
Personally, I have the lifetime warranty and my manual calls for 6k or 6 months. So I end up changing every 6 months anyway. I use synthetic because of the winter temps. But I'm sure it's still got plenty if life when I change it.
