I'm curious, what does your OCI say about your interval?

It's not necessarily a waste of money. But it may be.
Some folk's duty cycle makes 3k changes appropriate. Other may not need to change for 5k, 8k, or more. There's no one size fits all.

Personally, I have the lifetime warranty and my manual calls for 6k or 6 months. So I end up changing every 6 months anyway. I use synthetic because of the winter temps. But I'm sure it's still got plenty if life when I change it.

You will get lots of different answers. If you are still under warranty, you should use the recommended weight in the manual. That's 5-30 for my 2012.
