Default oil change light

Does 2007 jku x have an oil change interval light? I've heard it does but I've never seen it.

It's not a light; it will be a read out in your odometer area, your manual will tell you how to reset it...a few pushes on your gas pedal with key on; engine not running.

I may be wrong, but I thought it was setup on an interval, not actual levels.

Mine comes on every 6K miles; even though I change mine every 3k. Just another annoying idiot light for the person who doesn't change their on oil. And no I'm not calling anyone an idiot thats just what those lights and readouts are called.

I believe I have read that not all '07s have the OCI.

The interval is "duty cycle", an algorithm computes a bunch of parameters and throws the light when certain thresholds are crossed. No measurements of levels or any actual testing of the oil. Nor does the OCI know if you used conventional or synthetic, what quality brand or what grade oil is in there.

Its a pretty good system, way better than going by mileage. Just don't exceed six months or the mileage recommended in your manual for warranty purposes.

(and I would never go more than six months regardless of mileage; my first change was at 700 miles because it had been six months- so I practice what I preach!)

I just changed the oil around 200 miles ago and mine started coming on... Does that mean the computer is detecting something wrong or what?

The computer does not know when the oil is changed so the light comes on whenever it decides to. I had my oil changed at the dealership at 5k before I took a long trip and the indicator came on just before 6k.

To turn off the indicator perform the following sequence.
Turn key to the run position without starting the engine.
Press the accelerator pedal 3 times within 10 seconds and turn the key off.
If indicator comes on again it failed to reset and sequence should be performed again.

If an 07 does not have a light I wonder if that is an indicator that it was an early production......thoughts anyone?
